I must confess; I did tidy up a little before taking the photos though I do like to keep this room clutter free. We have 'stuff' too, it�s just scattered around the rest of the house. I only have one small DVD-A rack these days, tucked away behind the open door, all my CDs are boxed away.

Interestingly when I was looking to upgrade from 5200s I was unsure if 8Ks would work in this room so M loaned me a pair. After the shock and a few days had passed, my better half said �I�m getting used to them and they do help to balance up the screen�.

After that �wining� comment I ordered a pair

This is something that worried me too; the rack is about 14" from the Radiator, and even when it�s on full tilt, too hot to touch, there is no discernable difference to the temperature of the back panels of the 8xx kit or the 8k.

How effective to you find those corner treatments to be ? Are they free-standing or fixed to the wall?

They're free standing and find them very effective on the cheap, I also have side treatments that my wife she won't let me put them up. The book cases are another cheap form of room treatment as well. With the corner tubes the bass from the 8k sounds very solid and quick and without them you hear more bass closer to the speakers instead of your sweetspot.

Hi Macguy, if I may come with a suggestion looking at your pics. Could a broadloom be fitted in that room or is that one thing your wife won't let you put there?

The focus of the sound usually gets much better with a broadloom. Especially covering up that clinker that usually keeps alot of very lively midrange/high energy in the room. Just a thought.

One other picture improving tweak when the HT-screen is close to the ceiling is to put velour or something that soaks up the beaming light going up into the ceiling just above your Stewart screen. This greatly helped in my old HT-room to improve the picture even further.

Sorry shouldn't babble too much without showing my previous setup. It was still much to do regarding stray light and room treatment. And now after the move it's from the beginning again, but hey this is our hobby

You see before I put up the sheetrock I spray foam the entire room about 2 and half inches the ceiling as well. I am slowly talking my self to get a green light to put up the side RT.

You noticed we have the same pillows.. How funny is that. The room is nice.

Thanks Macguy, hoping I can get the new room that have staircase to work, no idea yet. And those pillows my sister thought they would fit well in the HT

@ Carl & MacGuy & Crion, would you mind / be able to provide your rough room dimensions and the speaker distances from the walls ?
I'd be particularly interested - and perhaps others would be too - at the distances that are "happily" accommodated by the various Meridian speakers in differing set-ups.

14'W/24'L/08'H. The front L+R are 1'6" from sidewalls and 2' from the rear wall. The rear speakers are a bit closer to the rear corners. I am always changing things around, the next thing will be to get the pole next to Sim2 out of the way and replaced it with a steel beam to take the load off that way instead of the pole.
