Back to the Chris Rea/Blues thing. I just watched the DVD that comes with the 12 disc Blue Guitar set. It is a fly on the wall look at the creative process involved in what at the time was to be a double album. Now we have 11 CD's.

Any Sceptics out there should watch this, you will appreciate it. The DVD is Well recorder in DTS and its great to see and hear Musicians just playing,
I had to have my guitar handy to join in on it.

Highly recomended by me anyway. Chris smile

Quick plug for Sunday Driver. Unsigned band who made, for my money, a fantasticly recorded album.

Currently playable via Soundcloud if you want to give it a try (although the CD is only a fiver). I recommend Sweet Dreams and Rats.

Just listened to Seventeen Seconds by The Cure. This album was made for DSPs - the sound was absolutely perfect, including explosive cymbals (nothing wrong with my tweeters after all!).

Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald. What more could you ask for? Well how about a crystal clear stereo recording and a mix that is 50 years old but sounds fresh as a daisy? And some great tunes, of course!

Duncan

Just in case anyone is in LA, this may be of interest.

Or if in Birmingham UK, this.

Tickets no, backstage, depends. (LA is high-security, Birmingham also sometimes - I had to use that once when someone in a forum announced he would confront me after the concert...)

Thanks to Mat for the recommendation in the 7K2 room at Bristol last weekend. When I arrived home I took a chance to go and see Andy McKee, self-described percussive acoustic guitarist, wrap up his tour here in Dublin and Wow!

If you like acoustic guitar music (no vocals) this young guy is something else. He also plays a Harp-guitar : Andy McKee Photos

His latest CD is called 'Joyland' and is available as a CD/DVD set too.

Plenty of videos up on Youtube too.

Wonderful talent.

I still browse in independant record stores but today they are few and far between. One small outlet that always provides an interesting selection of music from all genres is Spin a Disc in the foyer of "The Stables" at Wavendon, Milton Keynes.
A great place for the impulse buy.

Not sure if this has been covered before but will get to the impulse buy point. Neil Young Heart of Gold DVD produced soon after completion of "Prarie Wind" album. Directed by Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs 1991) this is Neil Young and Friends at their best, a superb live production from the Ryman Auditorium Nashville. Great music, a great performance and visually PDG.

Hi all, Just listened to Alison Kraus interview and music on Bob Harris country BBC Radio 2 with the F80.
It really sounded great and her new album "Paper Plane" (I think) sounds like it will be a good one.
DAB can sound good you know.......Chris smile
