Oh, a further thought chaps, did you need to reload your settings file afterwards, or did that stay intact through the flash upload?

Cheers

Interestingly Wolfson provide several built in filter options in some of their DAC chips (below)-

1. Linear phase soft knee filter
2. Minimum phase soft knee filter
3. Linear phase brickwall filter
4. Minimum phase apodising filter
5. Linear phase apodising filter

I don't know how these compare to M's or the difference in processing overhead of the doing this via DSP outside the DAC compared to DAC integrated.

Have you actually compared the code in the DSP5200 with the code in the 861v6 or one of the SL variants of the G-series? I'm curious about this because, if you are correct, it would indicate that they have decided not to optimize the code for each product, which doesn't sound like Meridian.

Could you help me understand why the G98DH is not a compatible product?

I think it's because it's not an upsampling product in the first place. It's only the products which already upsample which can take this tweak, as apodising is done as part of the upsampling process.

I scurried out of my hole in the skirting board just long enough to sniff the air a bit, upload the new file, and scurry back to safety. I'm waiting until after dark when the house is all quiet before I forage for any crumbs of audio sustenance!

This is correct. The G98 does not upsample.

I have no way of doing that, since their firmwares are not in the open. However there are lots of indications that the software of the newer models is virtually identical to the older models.

The firmware in my G68J is old. I seem to have managed to update the Mconfig files ok with the apoupdate. Do I now try to do a standard firmware type update on the G68J using the MFP file (I've never done an update before)? I suppose this question also applies in relation to some DS3100's which I'll be getting soon.
