I am mightily impressed that you were willing and able to provide this capability. It really does bring home for me what an incredible resource this forum is, and how lucky we all are to have such capable and knowledgable members like yourself. Even before Meridian began to withdraw from direct user interaction, I had increasingly viewed HH as the first stop for advice and problem resolution.

It also reflects rather poorly on Meridian, that they were either unwilling or unable to architect a similarly elegent solution. I suppose, as others have pointed out, apodizing for legacy equipment does make the newer stuff just a tad tougher to sell.
