Nic,

I know my english is not so good, but WHERE is that tool?
Sorry, didn't get the message where the message is and why wiki say more than 10 products when only one is verified (how and from?) and two are not able to download and 14 are not verified.

My understanding is very limited here.

Robert

It's evidently still in development.

Wow! Would be nice if they can fix Trifield width too!

Good Lord!

I'll have a bash with the 568.2mm and will report back (it may take a week or two!)

If the originator of that Wiki page would care to pm me for a few pointers, that would be great.

Cheers

George

I only hope that this will spur Meridian on to release a fix for Trifield width which, for me, is more important than apodizing in the processor, now that my sources are either (a) hi-res, (b) HDMI or (c) lossy bitstream.

Not really, it has been finished for over a month. The delay was caused because some fellow HH'ers were trying to get a definitive answer from Meridian regarding firmware updates for older equipment. As expected they only got the usual answer ...

@Robert,
The tested column indicates if the updated firmware has been tested on real hardware. So far it has only been tested with the G68 and it worked perfectly fine. It should also work perfectly fine on the other mentioned equipment, however we only know for sure if someone actually tried it.

Anyway, download link is added.

Thanks Evdberg.

Do you know if the Meridian Apodizing filter is identical across all Meridian products or has it been "tweaked" in more recent products?

I'm just curious if they are not the same what particular variant is used by apoudate.

Once again thank you.

Avii

I will try it on my 8K and on my 800v3.

I have installed your software in the M programm folder and all the (possible) mfu files where generated.

So to use it I have to install it it on my equipment, but HOW I can select if either the 800, 861v6 or 8K are upsampling?

Do I have "update" my config file too and is there a new choice to select where the apodising happened?

I want to try it out but have no 800 firmware see here

Please help,
Robert

Any device will upsample if it gets a low-frequency (44.1 or 48kHz) signal at the input. You can not select this, it will always happen, I am convinced Ronnie is correct on this. I can hear a clear difference between the 'old' upsample filter and the apodizing one, and changing 'HS output' from Y(es) to N(o) did not make any difference.

No, it depends on which device performs the upsampling and which filter it uses.

You can just (double) click on it from the Windows Explorer. You will not see the message printed in the command line dosbox, but you can just check the firmware folders to see if the new firmware files are created. Now I think of it, creating a batch file that contains 'apoupdate.exe' followed by 'pause' should solve this problem.

Understood.

Ok, the upsampling is correct on the processor and DSP's as far I understand that.
But on the 800 you can select to upsample the output or not depends on your software version,
but still you have the choice with the aux output to stay at native rates.

So apodizing in the player as the first link in the audio chain is the most important process.
Can you describe the sonic difference and with which equipment did you try it?

Thanks
Robert

You got a PM
