Hi Dolf, I think these were listed in the original thread that brought xmos to our attention. Not sure how the OP got the info but will assume it's correct.
Going back to the MC600, this report contains the following:

Does this mean that for for playing the same music simultaneously in more than one zone this option is superior to having separate networked devices for each zone?
Yes. But syncing network devices is usually close enough is usually good enough. You just want to avoid echo. You are not trying to get "sound" stage between say two rooms that needs more critical timing.
So yeah in theory yes it would have less issues. But in practice you don't usually have to be that precise between zones.
You only need to be within a few milli seconds where as that feature could keep it within micro seconds.
