Bob says the XMOS is currently in 4 products that are presently shipping. Does anyone know what these 4 are?

Hi Dolf, I think these were listed in the original thread that brought xmos to our attention. Not sure how the OP got the info but will assume it's correct.

Must have missed that due to the boards changing from 2010 to 2011.

@Admin: please move the other thread to the 2011, this is very interesting !

Thanks Nick,

Although I read that thread several time, somehow that escaped me.

Am I correct that although the ID40 has it, the V6 base unit doesn't. That seems an odd priority of conversion order.

I suspect the 861v6 was designed before the ID40. For a new chip I expect the ID40 was easier to manage than a multi-tasking 861 too.

There is no XMOS chip in the V6 as far I see it on my cards-
(no ID40 card)

Going back to the MC600, this report contains the following:

Quote
Each zone also has an independent clock which means different sample rates are possible at the various outputs. The multiple zone clocks are also slaved to a central clock, keeping the multiple zones in synch in case sound bleeds from one to another.

Does this mean that for for playing the same music simultaneously in more than one zone this option is superior to having separate networked devices for each zone?

Yes. But syncing network devices is usually close enough is usually good enough. You just want to avoid echo. You are not trying to get "sound" stage between say two rooms that needs more critical timing.

So yeah in theory yes it would have less issues. But in practice you don't usually have to be that precise between zones.

You only need to be within a few milli seconds where as that feature could keep it within micro seconds.

Frank,

I apologize if I missed it, but the last post you made (I think was) you got a couple answers but you still were planning on sitting with Meridian more formally.

Did you ever get more detailed answers?
