Loss of sales in the US of 50% in the past few years. Has that been typical of the industry as a whole stateside or particular to Meridian? I think that a big part of the loss in sales is due to the insistence that no processor should have HDMI inputs is part of the problem. While I was happy as an existing user to have an add on box to get HDMI on my existing equipment I believe new purchasers (particularly of the G series )find it difficult to understand why they need to pay more and have an extra box just to have HDMI which is now standard in the cheapest processors. While Bob may be technically correct that it affects the sound it would be much more sensible to add this capability to the processors but still advise the absolute purists not to use it. According to my dealer the lack of HDMI is turning buyers off in droves

Alright, I think that it's wholly misleading and definitely puts a couple of coats of gloss on things. 10% growth after a 50% drop in the market? Sorry, but after a major restructuring in target market, that's really feeble.

Great find. I remember reading this article. I do not think so long as Bob Stuart is involved Meridian will ever sacrifice sonics. They can do the marketing thing, but one thing every great company has in common is authenticity. What is Meridian? Above all else it must stand for the best possible sound quality. Hello Jerry. I assume you were speaking about the article I presented not that of the original poster. I do agree with you in respect to Bob Stuart's goals. Foremost, sound quality then marketing and sales. I did find out that Meridian Audio, LTD won the 2010 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award for Integrated Home System for their Sooloos Digital Media System. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. http://luxuryce.com/Meridian_CES_Preview_2010These days, nanotechnology is hot news! :grin :http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/techchron/detail?entry_id=16620 Have a wonderful day. May the New Year bring everyone success and joy, peace and goodwill.

I know for a fact that equipment can be sent directly to Meridian in GA for repair, completely bypassing the 'local' dealer, for service issues. I just received a flyer quoting fixed service costs covering any and all parts and labor, that in my case was a LOT cheaper than buying parts piecemeal and having a local guy install them. Service dept is option #4.... worth checking out sometime.

Consumer, I was refering the the Meridian approach of Hi-Fi not Hot-Rod. Getting an engine from one car and the G box from another is the analogy. Meridian like to build systems. So, if your sold on the system approach your likely to stick to it. If not, you may well just bail out. Hi-Fi enthusiasts typicaly like to mix n match to get a sound they like. Meridian go against the accepted grain here. Hope I clarify my thoughts here.......Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Dear Chris, You presented an idea on the previous page that resulted in responses not only from me but other members. You may wish to review the responses again and deal with the question that you failed to answer on page 2. I will not withdraw my comments nor will I totally accept what you are now attempting to explain. (lol) You seem to be changing the topic as noted above as far as I am concerned. We can't be sure a customer was lost due to what you now seem to have concluded. There isn't any evidence to suggest such. Bye the way, I'm familiar with Meridian Loudspeakers The DSP Path: Meridian White Paper 1: Hotrod or Hi-Fi? http://media.Meridian-audio.com/datasheets/papers/DSP-speakers-paper-v2.pdfI'm in a decent mood tonight and am willing to forgive you to some extent only because you smiled at me. (tee-hee) Take care and please try not to let this happen again. (I'm smiling at you too!) Have a wonderful new day. I've had a busy day and am trying to finish up the final details for my big party tomorrow. Live music, food, drinks and lots of fun. I expect over 100 people invading my home during pouring rains. My home is beautifully decorated for this holiday season. I'll toast you and everyone else here at my party. Cheers to everyone!

Can people please not put raw long url's in their posts. Long url's or large images force the line length of each post so wide that on mobile devices or other devices with small screens, text shrinks so much (or you have to constantly scroll) that it gets impossible to read the post. Please use the [URL] attribute to wrap your URL with a short description. For me to read this topic, I now have to get out of bed, brave the cold and use a proper PC instead

If Meridian opened it's own shops in the UK, how do you think the (generally very good) Premium Partners would react?
This current marketing policy appears schizophrenic. You are told to go via your dealer for everything but Meridian want to sell direct to end users via shops.
...and you can still get direct service from Meridian USA.
Confused.

Frank's great intention in starting this thread would, I expect, be to keep at least reasonably on topic about Bob Stuart being profiled in The Independent under the headline, "Bob Stuart: Britain's best-kept engineering secret".
Look at where this thread has gone!
Regarding Meridian employees reading this forum, which is reportedly happening less nowadays. Consider if they started reading this thread, and obviously this would be one to read. They would surely not want to continue reading it.
But of course HHs is for us for us about Meridian and not for Meridian.
There is a place for the attention-grabbing banter that is sometimes contained in this thread. But how sad it is under the banner of Bob Stuart, Sir Bob as I would like him to become.

Sir Bob.now that is a great thought. Im not sure if the process involves any level of nomination, however Id guess that in the case of someone such as Sir William Lyons, export benefit to the UK must be a consideration. Certainly Bob Stuart can be credited with this, not to mention the level of technical achievement and world wide recognition that Meridian has obtained. Due in no small part to Sir Bobs tireless efforts as an ambassador for his brand. Speaking from experience, forms such as this can be very draining and distracting for employees. They all have roles to perform and personal lives to lead. I dont think Bobs head is in the sand, hes on Facebook and Im sure well aware of public perception. I have owned Meridian products since 1977 and one set of Actives for over 22 years now. I have never had any warranty service and only minimal repairs out of pocket. I have owned several transports that failed beyond the point of reasonable repair, but really who can complain about 7 or 10 or even more useful years of service from an audio component. I have nothing but good things to say about Marc Koval and Meridian USA. I am heading out on a 6 hour round trip (by car) tomorrow to visit my new nearest Dealer, some 1200 kms closer to me than before. http://prestigeaudio.ca/ They seem to have several nice used Meridian items as well, so if any Canadian (or US) Hitchhikers see something they like, I would be happy to do a physical inspection. I always lurk, but dont often post, so Seasons Greetings and all the best in the New Year to all

Frank's great intention in starting this thread would, I expect, be to keep at least reasonably on topic about Bob Stuart being profiled in The Independent under the headline, "Bob Stuart: Britain's best-kept engineering secret". Yes, it was nice of Frank the OP to have presented the article. I started off by providing more information related to Bob that added insight into not only Bob but their products then later on said," I would be interested if a Meridian warranty would be transferable. Also, I did locate an old article though I wonder if it still would apply or if there are other promotionals by Meridian. I'm curious about the length of a warranty for Meridian products at this time in date. Any new promotionals? I would think that a great warranty on a product oftentimes reflects the quality of the item." https://www.meridianunplugged.com/u...bb=showflat&Number=132352&page=5 Look at where this thread has gone! The topic took scenic tours like a fine vehicle it covered a lot of landscape. There was on this topic OT: Linn https://www.meridianunplugged.com/u...bb=showflat&Number=132352&page=5Regarding Meridian employees reading this forum, which is reportedly happening less nowadays. Consider if they started reading this thread, and obviously this would be one to read. They would surely not want to continue reading it. We will have to agree to disagree on that one. If you are an employee of a company then you would surely wish to know, advise, and console prospective buyers. But of course HHs is for us for us about Meridian and not for Meridian. I joined to learn about Meridian products and what people thought about them. It's always wise to read or hear what the public has to say. If you read through the thread (topic) you will see that it varies somewhat. It has an impact on sales and does affect how a company's Marketing Department can improve by addressing issues and concerns by potential buyers or pre-existing ones. There is a place for the attention-grabbing banter that is sometimes contained in this thread. But how sad it is under the banner of Bob Stuart, Sir Bob as I would like him to become.[quote I've praised Bob Stuart all along. I've earlier posted articles about him and Meridian. As a woman I wish to say that I along with friends of mine interested in the products. I hope being a woman here doesn't mean I can't ask questions or remark on what I have seen on threads. Thank you. May the New Year bring us all good health and good will.
