IGNORE That Types properties.

You'd get better advice if you list your equipement in signature.

For music, MOST of the time if you have good full range speakers it's better to not use the sub.

The sub is for 3 things:

LFE (mostly movies or multichannel music that rarely uses it)
Backup the low end on SMALL speakers. Small can be pretty big though with a low cross over.

Solving placement issues. You may have large mains that are poorly placed for low frequency and sub allows you to move that around. But it has to be pretty bad to give up the low end on your GOOD large mains because a stereo LOW end sounds great.

When using Trifield DSP if you have a small center or surrounds you will hear some bass rerouted to the sub. Trifield is highly praised around hear even from long time two channel lovers. In Stereo with LARGE mains the sub will be off.

If you want to TEST The sub to see if every is setup right. Try setting main speakers SMALL in the Bass Management section on the MUSIC tab. Set the cross over high (like 80 or 120hz). Just for testing. Then try Stereo and the sub should kick in on 2 Channel CD Music.

FORGET the types thing.

One note though, you may have created multiple USER types. This is another use of the term TYPE. Think of this as multiple custom configs. I don't use them enough to help you but I suggest you get rid of it because you may make changes to one config but have the other config selected on the 861. You can only switch custom user types in the 861 front panel. If I recall correctly it adds them to the SAME list as the Factory types. VERY confusing I know. Partly why I don't use them. And you can't switch from the remote so I find them useless.

By deafult MConfig creates ONE custom USER type and it is automatically selected when you upload the config. And it starts with a Factory one and that is what your looking at. What you started with. Once you set speaker sizes and types etc. What you started with is meaningless. What that TYPE property should show is "Type MCONFIG1 - In Use".
