Interesting, trade-in rather than upgrade? Also, thought it was to be 2 months or so before details were announced. Perhaps all the concerns on thsi forum prompted M to announc details earlier.

All -- Meridian has worked out trade-in programs for v1 - v4 861s to the new 861v6. Your local dealer should have this information now, or if not now, very soon. All the information regarding the upgrade and features in the new 861v6 are public. Same goes for the new 808.3, replacing the 808.2. If it is public, could you perhaps share the USA prices ?

Interesting, trade-in rather than upgrade? I guess this would be consistent with a change in architecture.

I'm not sure if Meridian wants me to make a public announcement since I don't think they've informed other dealers yet, but feel free to email me at michael@audiohigh.com or contact your local dealer if you're not in Northern CA. If I get the OK next week I can publish the program for everyone. I can say that there is a trade-in for v1 - v4 861 to the new v6 (comes complete with SpeakerLink outputs (8), MMHR input (so finally we can get true 8-channel digital discrete from HD621), eight balanced outputs, analogue inputs, and a few more things). There is also a trade-in for the 808 v1 or v2 CD player to the new 808.3, which now has Sooloos built-in and a new apodizing filter (as does the 861v6). The new Sooloos software is a big improvement over the current rev, and the new iPhone app is well-done. Personally, I'm very excited about the new products. They should be out very soon, and I can't wait. Note that I don't check this board very often, so best to email if it's anything time-critical. Michael www.audiohigh.com

That "new apodizing filter" is probably why Bob wrote of the 808.3's improved performance over the 808.2. If so, including clearly heard on listening, that would be a "wow" achievement so soon after the release of the 808.3. It was only at the end of 2009 that The Absolute Sound gave the 808.3 the technology breakthrough of the year award for the filter. There was also high media praise elsewhere for the apodising filter.

They have no idea, or do not want to tell me. I guess they need some time, we are a long way from the UK.. (like 50 km at the nearest point) And USA prices are interesting, i can swap the $ for the Euro sign i fear.

I would be surprised if it is worth changing from 808i.2 to 808.3 in order to benefit from the revised filter.
But I am ready to be persuaded! (though price would determine how hard the persuasion would have to be)
