Thanks Frank for sharing the "working" end of the new offerings.

A picture can be worth a few thousand words in this case smile

Best,

J

Hi Steve, yes that is true, but these inputs are on a multi-channel processor. Gianni's point was about the lack of a 2 channel pre-amp with speakerlink outputs.

Carl

Oh, I see what you mean, for the 2 channel only guys. I guess Meridian's position is that you can use the multichannel/surround pre-amps as 2 channel pre-amps.

Steve.

Frank, when you speak with Ken on Saturday, if you can, could you get clarification on the following:

1. Timing of information/pricing for 861v4 to v6 upgrade (Dennis Erskine has said not for 2 months).
2. Some understanding of the difference between the current OA13 24/192 output card versus the new OA18.
3. Will the IE44 digital input card be available individually, or will the only version be the one that shares a backplane with the OE14 card (obviously raising the upgrade price, even though many of us don't need the speakerlink outputs).

Thx!

Simon

Something's not right with the 861v6 back shot: The ID26 digital input card has "Digital Output" written on it, even though it *is* an input card and even has two RJ45s with "SpeakerLink Input" written on it!

Speakerlink in my understanding is a symetrical digital signal(music) combined with the communication line and the sense is to feed the DSP.So now its a input on a source?...??
SpeakerLink, despite its name, is basically a replacement for SPDIF connectivity. The inputs are there to allow connection of Sooloos and/or 808.2/3 sources to an 861v6.

And two inputs on a OUTPUT card??
It's an incorrect label. I saw this too (see my post above).

Quote
And the standard SPDIF inputs on the IE44 are 6 channel-not 8channels?
Why makes M a 6channel input card and delete his own source for that-the 800???
The SmartLink connections are for the large number of 861 owners who also have an 800, G9x or 598.

Apodizing!!! Apodizing!!! Apodizing!!!

Just felt the need go contribute that seeing as I didn't see anyone else point it out

I know we've all been expecting, but IMHO it moves the Product Upgrades onto a much higher plane

Beats the hell out of me that they couldn't have included this fact in the Data Sheets or Press Releases

Delighted to be wrong though

As it so happens, my 861 was back at Meridian since early December for a Power Supply change. On Monday, I asked my dealer to enquire about possibly getting the Upgrades done NOW

He eventually got an email back today which said the they will be offering Upgrades and Pricing by the Summer

Great job Frank and thanks for securing that information

The 861 V4 -> V6 is going to be expensive. As I currently understand it, for upgrade purposes the only thing that they are retaining is the case and the backplane. The "motherboard", the power supply, and the cards are all new design, though I am certain the V4 cards will continue to work.
