Quote below from Bob Staurt's original FAQ on the 800 Player. Numerous other similar claims were made around the time of the introduction of the 800 series

It is totally stunning! This is very important: CD will be the major source of music enjoyment for many years because the catalogue is so rich and the sound we can get is so good. Meridian has made the best CD players for 15 years, with award-winning models like the 208, 602 and 508. But, the 800 is by far the best sounding that has ever been made!

The ROM reading system and error correction method provides a very accurate data stream. The 800 then uses three levels of memory-based de-jittering to smooth out the data to previously unheard levels.

Meridian`s 800 team has devoted three years to perfecting this aspect alone ….[/color]

It's also worth bearing in mind that for many years, Meridian also advised that other Analog Sources be fed into the 800 rather than the 861, in order to avail of this aspect of the 800's performance

This directly correlates with their HH2 position of the 808.2i as being their best means of introducing Sooloos and other Media Players into Meridian systems
