Why apodizing is involved when you have the ID 40 card for sooloos. I have two digital sources that can not take advantage of the HD621 : a digital "transport" that outputs 16/44 to 24/96 via SPDIF, and, a Tivo unit that outputs over an optical connection. Neither outputs audio over HDMI. My question is whether the new v6 will apply Apodizing to those two inputs.

Why a case replacement? You are joking;-) ?? Bit tongue-in-cheek perhpas, but I do recall hearing/reading that a case redesign was to be pary of v6. Re-reading the press release, it does appear not. I guess time will tell, however, whether v4 owners will just add cards or have a more involved 'upgrade'.

More pictures now over at the same site, one level up
Looks like a new(ish) case design for the 808 and 861. Nothing major to my eyes though

Well, I'm thrilled to hear that there are new updates/versions of these products. It's been a while since the HD621 last January, and we do like new toys to drool over, do we not?!
Interesting to note that the 861v6 will take the 808i.2's Speakerlink output as a source (same as the Sooloos output). That allows the 808i.2 to feed the processor for Trifield and still connect directly to non Speakerlink DSPs for the best two channel performance. Excellent!
Cheers
George
PS Apart from a new (inset) square Meridian badge on the middle drop down flap (replacing the traditional Meridian logo), I can't see any difference in the design of the v6 compared to previous versions.

4) Will existing G61Rs and G68s be upgradeable to a MMHR input card (at least). I have my doubts... There is no mention of the new version of these two processors having MMHR input, which your question implies. Perhaps the DSP power needed to fold down from 8 to 6 channels is not present?

I would hope that existing 861v4 owners will be able to add cards as they need. I hope so too, a new front lists for 2000 Euro on the Dutch distributors website. Too much for a new logo...

This quote below can be read in about 3 different ways (unusual for Meridian ) However, an optimistic reading implies the inclusion of a Speakerlink connection between the HD621 and the G68 HDMI audio sources can be connected to G68 via Meridian`s HD621 HDMI Audio Processor and Meridian`s digital multi-channel SmartLink. Hands up who would like a Q&A Session at CES this year??? The Answers will be available in July, about 3 months before the Products themselves

Ronnie, I am with you on the optimistic reading, but I am not as optimistic as you are about product delivery dates!
Have I misread this, or are they saying that in order to get optimum performance from a Sooloos you need to link it via an 808?
It would also be useful to have clarification on the extra benefits that acrue from moving up the processor chain.

Like the DSP8000.2s, I reckon the 861v6, and new G61R and G68 will have apodizing out of the box. Then we'll all get the apodizing when Meridian get around to posting it... Edit: The way I read the G61R and G68 press releases, these new products absolutely have the new MMHR input. My bold: HDMI audio sources can be connected to G68 via Meridian`s HD621 HDMI Audio Processor and Meridian`s digital multi-channel SmartLink.

Have I misread this, or are they saying that in order to get optimum performance from a Sooloos you need to link it via an 808? I don't think so. I imagine that having the ID40 card in the 861 may, in fact, be better as there is one less jitter-prone transfer. I would be surprised if the apodizing in the 861 is inferior to the 808.2's because the 861 is a reference product. Remember that Sooloos + a pair of DSP speakers is an important sale concept for Meridian; that's why it's important for the 808 to take a Sooloos card.
