Interesting indeed. But for those of us with 861v4 the question becomes: how well does it work with mixed generations of DSP speakers (mine are still all the old DIN connector) and frighteningly what's the cost to upgrade!

No mention of Apodizing being available in the 861v6?

Will the digital (and analog) inputs have apodizing applied, or is that technology only available in the 808 (etc) and M DSP speakers?

Very interesting. I wonder how major of an upgrade it will be from v4 to v6 and whether any kind of case replacement is required? Any guesses on upgrade cost? Also, I presume v6 will retain the ID42 card as standard (the lack of any 3xSPDIF inputs really would make the 800 superflous)?

??
You have no speakerlink DSP and therefore you need the OE12 and the AC11 for speakerlink DSP.
So what is wrong with that-please enlight me?

I am using Mac 10.6.2 and Safari. No issues here.

Try Firefox and see if that works.

Digital input cards were expensive with previous upgrades. For the V2 to V3 upgrade, the swap of IE16 to IE42 was something like 2000-3000 Euro if i recall correctly (also a DSP card involved)

Not quite true...

On the Meridian Media Centre site are all the press releases for CES 2010

Well spotted, I didn't think to look there: I foolishly looked under "News".

Thanks for a great post!

And thanks to Kal for correctly alerting us.

Why a case replacement?You are joking;-) ??
For my understanding "only" the cards are necassary is OE14 and IE44 for 8ch and one wire connection between the HD621 and 861.
IE26 and ID 40 is for Sooloos.

I would hope that existing 861v4 owners will be able to add cards as they need.

Interesting that M talks about a SpeakerLink input card for connecting an existing Sooloos to the 861, but fails to mention connecting the 808.2 to the 861!

Why apodizing is involved when you have the ID 40 card for Sooloos.
In the ID 40 doc it says:
The card offers simple connection to the same network as a Sooloos system through its RJ45 style Ethernet port, eliminating the need for unsightly cables and extra boxes. Once connected, the ID40 Sooloos Card renders audio streamed across the network. The host 800 Series product is then able to use its own powerful DSP capabilities to perform advanced audio enhancement processing, using triple FIFO buffering and upsampling lower sample rate audio streams to 88.2 or 96kHz using Meridian`s world renowned ‘apodising` upsampling technology, and in the case of 861 apply other processing, such as Trifield, for improved presentation on a multi-channel system.

So that mean that that 800 series-means 808,861 and 800 (its a 800 series product !!) --
have the apodizing technology- the "only" open question is if this work only when a ID 40 is plugged in.
That should be not logical as the ID40 card is a input card for Sooloos .
So we just have to download the sw upgrade for the 800 series to have apodizing?!
