You should check into if you indeed have the latest version.
EAC in secure mode but not paranoid was slow too, but not that slow if I recall. It also depended on the features of the drive (not speed) how fast it went.
That is the beuty of accurate rip. You can rip non secure full speed. If the checksum matches it's a good rip and no need to rip in pokey mode. Eac was not good early on telling you up front if eac found your CD in accurate database. It does now. but dBpoweramp tells you if checksums match as you go. If first track misses which takes just a few seconds I can stop and switch to pokey mode.
XLD might not tell you about CD offset in your face but I think it's required for accuraterop to work. Double check versions and you have accurate feature and it's enabled

I just ripped the same CD (11 tracks) with iTunes and XLD. Ripped both to Apple Lossless. iTunes took 3 min. XLD I did two rips, one with CDParanoia mode on, and one with it off. With CDParanoia on it took 14 min, off it took 4 min. With each mode XLD probably took at least a minute longer to load, detect pregap and be ready for ripping. Both log files show "Accurately ripped (confidence 25)", with two tracks having a confidence of 26 and two of 24. I have no idea what the scale for confidence is. Interestingly, the times for most tracks are different from each other by a second or two and both are different from what is on the CD jacket.
Main system (when room is done): 861v4, 7 x DSP33, SW1600, Oppo, Sonos

That means 26 people got exactly (no pun intended) the same checksum.

How do you view the log files for the tracks ripped by iTunes?

No log files from iTunes. The log files were from both rips with XDL, one with CDParanoia and one without.

For the most part better rips will avoid an occasional tiny tic, click, crack or pop due to a scratch or defect.

I have recently starting to use dBpoweramp to rip a few of my most favorite CDs. I tried ripping one CD about three or four times using ultra secure mode. Each time the rip is not accurate based on a comparision with other rips of this CD in the data base. I have been able to rip other cds using the same drive and set up. So what to do? Does this mean there is some defect on the CD? Need to buy it again?

Some discs just will not match. If normally most that are in DB do match your hardware etc. fine. If you get an occasional mismatch it could be you have an odd stamping or a scratch it can't recover from (which is rarely the case).
For me I'd say I'd say out of 10 CD's 6 will match 3 not in DB and 1 mismatch. There might only be one or a few bad set of CRC's in the DB (I'm not sure the criteria for it being valid in the DB (not sure if more than 2 have to match for it to be available to match to).
I would not buy it again. brand new CD may have same issue. I mark each CD case with a colored sticker and save the logs on each.
Green Perfect, Yellow not in DB (could be perfect), Red Mismatch with DB
Make sure you occasionally submit your CRC's to the DB. Seperate operation not automatic.

Thanks George. Yes I noticed the option to submit my rips to the database and of course will do it.
