Anyone using M DSP speakers with a surge protector? After the huge investment I'd like to protect them.

Like to hear your comments, experience...

Also recommendation on surge ptotectors would help.

One of these could do the trick. http://www.shunyata.com/modeldriver.aspx?linkkey=HydraModel2 I use the Hydra-8 for my system and it <insert favorite hyperbole here>. Prior treatments included PS Audio Ultimate Outlet and PP300 (seperately and combined could not match the Hydra by itself). All these conditioners provide protection.

So you are connecting """everything""" including your DSP speakers, right?

Does the sound come out "restricted"?

Some folks suggest connecting the power amps direct and not through any power filter or regenerator, would this be the same for powered DSP M's speakers?

What I did, since I was starting from scratch, was to have an electrician give me an isolated power supply from the main power, and to that we did an isolation transformer + industrial/ whole house surge protection. Im told this does not suffer the usual "restrictions" [Linked Image from softronix.com] IMHO the sound is IMMENSE- and no noise on the line from other household appliances, etc. I even had a few outlets from the house labeled dirty power for things like vacuums when we need to clean. This way we never put a spike on to the line with the toys....

Jerry

I did something like Jerry but on a smaller scale, much along the lines of the Russ Andrews wiring guidelines.

The seperate ring (albeit with big hooferdoofer surge gadgets) just powers the front DSP's and plasma.

I did perceive a quieter system when I did it, but, obviously I was just kidding myself to justify the effort and expense [Linked Image from softronix.com]
