Electronics aside, your speakers are fine since they are SE's.

Also if Hires is important to you then I absolutely agree that 808v6 is the next level of bringing out the hires details with the SE speakers.

But, what we are missing here is the obvious. The Room!

If you position yourself closer to the speakers (atleast try less than 3m) at approximate ear height to the tweeter. Is there a difference for you?

Also a picture says more than a thousand words, please snap a couple of photos of the room setup with room dimensions and I think we can identify where all that treble nuance is going.

This could very well be a matter of speakers vs headphones. They have different strengths. Some things I enjoy on a particular day more on my Staxes than on 8ks, some days it's the other way round. Depends on what I want at the time and how the recording is.

I'd agree, comparing my AK240/Roxannes' with my Meridian DSP7200/818v2 setup, while the AK240 delivers more detail, the Meridian delivers more atmosphere and feels much more like you're actually there.
