I finally got my DSP6000s out of storage after many years and got them to my home and found out that 3 of the 8 bass drivers in the bottom cabinet are damaged. the rubber around the edges is cracked/busted in a few places.

Is this repairable? Hopeful question - I assume I have to replace them.

I've pinged my local dealer, and I've poked around on google and on eBay - but came up with nothing thus far. can anybody point me at the right units? i should be able to do the actual work myself.

Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something...

P.S. What happens if I just say "[censored] it"? Obviously running a speaker like that is going to generate noise - but I could just disconnect all four of the bottom drivers and run the top four. I'm using this in a nearfield setup (yeah, I know - wicked stupid) so it's not like I need to blow my balls off with bass smile

It looks like I just need to replace the rubber surrounds, the cones are all perfect.

Found me some YouTube videos wink

Do I just need any old 8" (or whatever size it is) surrounds?

I found some tutorials on simply patching up the surrounds. Mine are simply torn here and there - NOT disintegrating or falling apart.

These tutorials talk about RTV Silicone.

Has anybody done this on an M speaker? I'd MUCH rather patch than replace!!!

Replacement drivers are not really expensive. Most any good musical instrument shop can do speaker repairs such as surround replacement or reconing.

Also check with Mark Koval (member here) and see what he thinks the options are.

If you think listening to music is fun, try learning an instrument.

When I had to repair my subwoofer foam surrounds, these guys had everything I needed, they are US based too.

They even do repairs if you don't want to do it yourself.

It really isn't that difficult!

Good luck,

Steve.
