I bought the album Nightwish Decades from HDTracks in 44/24 FLAC-format. Sooloos says it is a Lossy album and refuses to play the album.

The Programs Foobar, JRiver Media and dBpoweramp accept the files.

Normally it is fixed by converting the album from FLAC to FLAC in dBpoweramp, but this album is still refused by Sooloos. I tried to convert the album to WAV, AppleLossless and MP3 but Sooloos says corrupt files.

Any suggestions to solve this problem?

Herman,

Have you been successfully importing other downloaded media shortly before, and especially since your experience with this attempted Nightwish Decades import?

I've had Control:PC periodically failing to import downloaded media for a couple of months, sometimes after Windows updates, QNAP Firmware Updates, and who knows what mysteries. I've found that occasional reinstallation of Control:PC has remedied the situation, as it did yesterday with two hi-res downloads from B&W's Society of Sound Site. Probably no coincidence that there was a QNAP firmaware update this week.

Sooloos playback was working, but attempts to import from my PC failed repeatedly.

Hope this helps.

Are there any ‘odd’ characters in the file name, ie any non ascii characters. This has caused problems in the past. As a test, rename them track 1,etc

Cheers

Hi Richard
I bought 3 albums from HdTracks. The two other albums were imported without any problems.

Firewall? I’ve had conflicts with Meridian and Norton. Just a thought...

I opened the files in a binary editor and the Meta-data part of the FLAC-file contained a lot non printable characters.
For example: in one file the trackname was not readable (only special characters).

I solved the problem to import the album.
I had split the album in two new albums. It was not possible to import
the complete album (OK the album was imported but I could not play the tracks).
I could split the album in any combination for ex: 1 and 21 or 2 and 20 and so on.
