Hi,

The audio signal is working without issue. Volume control is NOT working.

Roon is sending the volume control to the 218 as the volume changes are visible on the 218 web configuration page.

The following Link shows configuration shots from the 218 and DSP33 (just one speaker at the moment, to limit issues).

Any help in configuration changes that are required to make this work would be welcome!

Robert has been a huge help but he's probably sleeping at the moment!

Thanks in advance!

-Philip

Good morning and reply Philip,

Just woken up BEFORE breakfast !!

You have to edit the Mconfig file as you select "non Meridian sound controller"
So the 218 await a command over serial or IR via the 512.
The 218 is !"your controller" instead of the processor.

That selection in the Mconfig comes from that time, where no 218 where thought and the only way to communicate with the DSP33 from a non Meridian source/control was either via IR and 521 that translate the light to electrical signal on the com input of the DSP-
OR
Enable communication over the serial interface.

Have you the latest firmware 1.10 and made the HW reset with the paper clip and all other suggestions what I recommend?

Why not try the DSP33 first at your 861 and it's known since years that the setup of the DSP33 is a little sophisticated and when you have a chance to do it easier with help of a display from your controller, you should do it FIRST. Then you know faster and much easier that the DSP33 have a correct setup.

Hi,

Good morning!

Night time down on the bottom of the planet!

Change has been made to the MConfig file so the 218 is the controller.

DSP33 has the latest FW and has been reset.

Unfortunately, I do not have any extra cable to try the 861 (cables are installed in the walls) - I will try to borrow some cable later in the week.

I did plug an IR receiver into 218, but it does not appear to be recognizing the MSR Remote.

I have followed all of your other recommendations.

I have wonderful audio but no volume control frown

Not giving up...

Best,

-Philip

I tried using a general IR receiver... Now I understand I need a 'Meridian G12 remote IR sensor'

Have you set it up as Controler and IR Remote on?

I would forget the 512 initially.

the 218 is controller.

I think DSP33 is configured wrong. First DSP33 video - "controlled by" revert to "Meridian surround controller" ie the 218. Difficult to see much other detail as they are low resolution moving video.

I would look at DSP33 manual to see if it shows how to setup with a 562.

Thanks - I will look at the DSP33 manual as you suggested.

In the link to the photos, there is a button on the top right of the screen to turn off motion.

Best,

-Philip

I have made the change to control via Meridian Sound Controller, unfortunately without success.

i suspect then its the lead between DSP M5 master lead and the reviver. when i got a non reviver version made to do the same but with MC200 to dsp5000's, it needed a different lead than what would have been needed had it been MC200 into c5 comms and i think it was more than the physical din plug. i think Roberts reviver gives you different options in the box.

just out of curiosity, if you turn off dsp33 then unplug audio only (may not be needed but just incase) then turn dsp33 on, when you try and play something, does led on back of dsp33 go from dim to bright? remember to connect audio back up.

there is also the weird setup where some people get their dsp33 to work by plugging m5 lead into comms out not comms in. never understood that one.

Congratulations, the slave get connected via the S5-lead from comms-in from the master DSP to comms-in at the slave. Audio of course from dig-out to dig-in.

Sorry Philip, I forgot that special issue with the DSP33 as the master/slave decission is done automacally in the speaker...

Hi,

The following steps will yield success for others who need to get this to work.

- Disconnect everything
- Update the DSP33s with the latest FW
- Reset the master DSP33 with the reset plug (plug into COMMS input, power off, power on, confirm flashing of Green LED on rear of DSP33)
- Power off DSP33
- Connect master Speakerlink output of the 218 to the reviver
- Connect reviver to COMMS OUTPUT, RS232, Digital Input 1 of the master DSP33 (usually right speaker)
- Power on DSP33

Confirm that you have audio and volume control on this speaker

- Reset the slave DSP33 with the reset plug (plug into COMMS input, power off, power on, confirm flashing of Green LED on rear of DSP33)
- Power off DSP33
- Connect Slave cable from COMMS input on the master DSP33 to COMMS input on the slave DSP33
- Connect Digital Out from master DSP33 to the Digital Input 1 on the Slave DSP33
- Power on Slave DSP33

Confirm that you have audio and volume control on both DSP33s
