I'm thinking about running a set of DSPs in a 2nd room & would like to have just the DSPs & to stream music to them from Tidal or whatever. I came across this Yamaha WX-AD10 & it looks like it would do the job perfectly (apart from requiring a 3.5mm adapter). I could just plug it into one of the Digital-ins.

Any better suggestions?

Briefly perusing that does not appear to have digital out.

I thought the 3.5mm jack was a digital-out?

3.5mm is analogue audio, so you would need a ADC to use that product.

I use a Sonos connect to stream Tidal as well as my own library and it works perfectly. It has a coax digital out so will easily work with legacy DSPs

Rasberry Pi, you will then need HAT to add to it to give you digital out, I use one of these...

http://iqaudio.co.uk/hats/48-pi-digi.html

will cost you around £65 all in and sounds fabulous.

Then something like PiCorePlayer with the Tidal plugin, or even better Roon.

I was equally embarrassed to learn that I could simply use an Airport Express with an optical to coax converter and do it via AirPlay.

The thing with the Pi is you can enable Airplay etc. as well.

You could just add a Chromecast Audio too for £30 and use your phone to 'cast' it to your speakers. Plus you can then play Radio, iPlayer etc. too.

You could add a Raspberry Pi and a Meridian Explorer 1 as well, if you wanted to keep it M.

Airport Express? That would never have occurred to me. Plus we have one...

gizzE; thanks re the Pi tip. They really are loose-change money aren't they?

Just thought I would mention, if your Airport Express has sat in a drawer for ages, the latest Airport Utility doesn't work with the gen 1 units.

You need to grab an earlier version.

A search on google will bring it up.

I didn't realise this, and Apple never said anything at the time, so I like many others threw out my 3 units thinking they had all died.

The windows version will see and configure them.
