Good luck and let us know how you get on. I will do some testing this end if it fails.

Cheers
Tom

I tried 2 drives. One was a 3TB and the other a 1TB western digital my book. The 1TB was seen by the SBT but I could not browse the drive from the screen or anything. I’m wondering if I have to format the drives fat32 vs ntfs since that is a more common format.

Hi

To start the built in server, complete the following:
  • Settings
  • Advanced
  • Squeezebox Server
  • Start Logitech Media Server
  • OK (I have an error message at this point as I don't have a hard drive attached, so it may be a differnet choice or message)
Cheers
Tom

Tom - Can you tell me if the SBT will turn off the HDD when you turn off the player eventually.

Hi - That's good news. If you have external power to the hard drive, I think it's unlikely that the hard drive will turn off when you power down the Touch. You could use a remote plug to power down the squeezebox and hard drive simultaneously . From my limited reading (last few mins) it sounds like a hard drive that sleeps may not be the best option. What is your ideal use scenario?

Cheers
Tom

I think the only solution is to eject the HDD from the SBT and once its been ejected I will unplug the HDD which will be a pain and I don't know if it will have to catalog the music each time I do that.

I'll see what I can find out. I don't think you will need to rebuild the catalogue each time as there was a wipe and scan option (which suggests it remembers stuff)

Cheers
