My understanding is that the latest Roon update now does MQA.

If you can find it in the release notes. I can’t.

What did you read that led you to that conclusion?

"Does" and "brings" are not the same grin

The facts are clear in the Roon 1.4 Release Notes (already posted)

spinaltap,

What this means is that Roon will deliver a bit perfect MQA stream to an iOS device, but will not perform any of the MQA "unfolds." That is still left to the recipient device (DAC) in the Roon world. The new thing here is that Roon allows an iOS device to be a recipient (which was not possible prior to 1.4).

Still, pretty great.

Hopefully MQA decode won't be too long. In the meantime, I'm loving the new volume control slider.

Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

We were first told about "coming soon" back in Jan 2016. Was supposed to have been added as part of an update to 1.3. Can't say I'm particularly hopeful.

You may find the second half of this post relevant.

Are you able to say whether there will be a specific 'MQA update version' or that we'll have to wait for Roon 1.5?

We will deliver the MQA update as soon as we can. Whether it's called 1.5, who knows... In general, we're attempting to make more frequent smaller releases, because these are much more manageable from a development and test perspective.

Why do you say that? Do you mean for Roon/MQA or no new Meridian equipment in general will be announced at CES?
Cheers
Tom

Hi Tom,

In the link from Ratbert I only found the 251 announced nothing else.

I also waiting/expecting a Roon Ready and MQA unfold card for the 861, but time will come.

Hi Robert

I think the link was to MQA not Meridian and I don't think M would choose to announce a new product via an MQA webpage. Not that I know any different though!

Cheers
Tom
