Hello everybody,

I'm been using my C15 and 818v3 since many years now and want to replace the CMOS battery in my C15.
How do I get access to the motherboard? Which screws have to be unlocked?

Can anybody tell me or PM me?

The motherboard is on the back of the display. You need to take the back of the display housing off. It’s relatively simple, even I can do it.


Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

You remove the screen bezel

Remove the four screws holding the screen

Starting at the top, Pull the screen away from the housing by pulling with firm, even pressure as the cpu is pasted to the heatsink at the back of the housing. Be careful as it is easy to pull things loose.

Once you have the screen pulled forward, the motherboard and battery will be exposed. Take note of the battery orientation and replace the CR2032 battery.

Reassemble in reverse order. Takes me less than fifteen minutes.

Thanks Bruce - this was a lifesaver for me. Thought I would add a few details since my C15 screen removal proved a tad different.

There were four screws to remove the outer screen bezel.

After it was off, I found 6 screws to remove the screen assembly to reveal the battery:

There were three screws along each side of the screen, with the middle one on each side hidden behind the scary "voids warranty" sticker hiding them.

The rest is as Bruce noted.


Sooloos C15 / QNAP TS-669 Pro / Various iPads etc.
