TartanB,

Interesting idea. I have MC200 under CD button and 218 under SLS as I thought they were both Sooloos sources. Guess I could make an SLS source on G65 as a dummy and keep CD for MC200.

Have you actually tested BNC comms to a rear speaker, It may not work? Possibly master FL to FC will work. I was told that in a 5.1 Meridian system the centre should be the master.

I have found cable at Maplin for 8 pound.

Thanks Toony ... sorry for all of the questions.
A couple more.

Did you move your TV connection to the 218?

If you change source on the 218 does it change on the G65?

Thanks

Hi Toony,

Yes, both the MC200 and the 218 are Sooloos sources (end points). The idea is to use the 218 for MQA playback (until a simpler solution come along). MQA is currently only in stereo, so you'll only use the FL & FR speakers for playback.

However, you can still use the MC200, connected directly to the G65 for playback with the DSP modes engaged (e.g. Trifield being the obvious one). The G65 will do that processing.

In a Meridian 5.1 system the centre speaker doesn't have to be the master _ I use the FL speaker as the master with the centre as a slave.

Hi Brian

Not wishing to complicate matters, but the 218 also has a coaxial digital output so you should be able to redirect the Sooloos/Roon stream to the processor which would negate the requirement for the MS200 (at least that is my take on it)

Cheers
Tom

Hi Tom,

I was just trying to keep things simple leaving the MC200 (rather than a MS200) connection to the G65 untouched.

Obviously, by using the digital output from the 218, you could free up the MC200 to be used in another zone.

Won't that create a feedback loop if purposely/inadvertently the processor then feeds back into 218?

I can see what you are getting and given that there is no option on the 218 to id a processor it seems even more likely. Maybe someone can try a Trifield test from a 218 source. (My centre is not working yet).

My head hurts!

Cheers
Tom

Yes it changes on both. Everything goes through G65.

Hi Toony,

Shouldn't you do what TartanB did?
Quote:
Changed all the sources on the 218 setup program (e.g. Radio, TV etc) to use the SL input, except for SLS which I left as default (i.e. Sooloos).
You should leave the TV (optical?) connected to the G65.
Make a single SL connection (master L+R) output from the G65 to the 218.

Therefore, when you select TV on the MSR+, the G65 will switch to that input. Meanwhile, the 218 will switch to the SL input, so it will 'see' the SL output from the G65.

My TV is a Humax box into HD621 then G65. Everything written above is exactly what I have done.
