After the windstorm, I found that my 861 wouldn't power up. I had an extra power supply and had it installed. However, 3 out of 7 speakers don't play.

The green lights are all on, and the displays work. Is there someone local to my area who can help me get it all working again?

Contact Marc Koval on here. It is a simple matter to send it to him for repair. He is the former Meridian technical leader in US and currently a dealer.

Hello LVdisc and welcome to the forum. Sorry to read of you troubles.

We tend to be quite hand-on here and could possibly help you diagnose and repair the problem yourself. This could help you in case of future issues.

It would help if you posted details of the equipment involved, how you have it connected up, how the system is configured, and which speakers are not playing. Details of what is displayed on the processor and speakers would also help.

Alternatively, if a Meridian Premium Partner or professional AV installer repaired and re-installed the equpment (either for payment or under warranty), one might be inclined to ask them to get it working properly.

OK, here we go. After the windstorm, the 861v4 would not turn on.

I had a repair person install an extra power supply in it and all seemed ok. However 3 of my 7 speakers didn't work. 2 of my 6 DSP5000 and the center channel speakers didn't work.

I did swap speakers that were working with the speakers that didn't work to eliminate that I had a bad cable. I have had problems with bad caps in the DSP5000 and have replaced them in 4 of my DSP5000. Before the caps were replaced, the green LED in the display were not working, nor was the speakers. All 6 of my DSP5000s now have working displays and Green and Red LED.

Since I bought this about 20 years ago, the dealer is no longer in business, and the 1 dealer in my area didn't want to help me in the past, as I didn't have a "relationship" with them. I was more than willing to pay, but he stated that "most times these deals don't work, so I will have to pass, sorry".

I'm hoping that I have something in the set up set wrong. I have the 861 typed as a "3" and the speakers as a "6". Does this sound correct?

Also, on the master and the slave settings, does each pair (front, side and rear) have to have one of each settings?

I will like to thank any and every one in advance for any help.
Chuck

There is one master, usually one of the front three, all the rest are slaves

Hi,

Well the first thing to do is to check your main switch box. If you do not have a fast differential cut off relay. Than it will happen again.

On the other hand a big thunderstorm has fried some of my equipment only by posing the charge over the air not via the power from the main switch box.

If you would be in Germany I could check it out.

Best regards

Andreas
