Ladies & Germs:

I apologize profusely if this has been asked and answered. I promise I checked all the wiki docs and the M manuals and searched he heck out of the forum.

The M manual states that the two analogue inputs on the 568 are sampled at 24 bits. That's great. NOBODY seems to state the rate at which those bits are sampled. 44? 48? 88? 96? 192 (not)?

Does anybody know FOR SURE? Or is it configurable (I used to own a 568.2 and don't remember it being configurable - but I've killed a LOT of brain cells since then).

Xoxo,
Doody

I always thought the ADAC matched the DAC... 24 bit 96k. Good question!

Update: Meridian's spec sheet says 24 bit 96k available for all sources. Thus the analog inputs are 24 bit 96k.

Yeah - I am 80% or more sure it's 96, but as you point out, the language isn't CRYSTAL CLEAR.

Anybody else think it's absolutely positively 24/96 on the ADC?

Thx Ronomy!

I have always been impressed with the analog inputs. Smooth and big soundstage.

I'm 99% sure it's 44k; this is what the display will show if you toggle it with an analogue source; it will display 44K (big k) if you have HS=Y, so it will be 88k to the DAC or DSP outputs, but the source (ADC) is 44k.

I just did this on my 568.2 and I'm sure it's the same on my 568.1

All the best,

Steve

Good find! You're right...it's gotta be 44k.

So the spec sheet is wrong with that statement that all sources are capable of 96k! False advertising! LOL

Thanks Syles. Sounds like it's 44.

Not ENTIRELY false advertising as the unit upsamples to 88 before it goes anywhere, presumably.

But unfortunate, IMO.

It still is a false statement, but the analog inputs do sound fantastic and I don't feel like I am missing anything.

I have a relatively cheap parasound phono preamp and and old Technics turntable and boy does that sound good. Massive soundstage and transparent as any other digital recording I have listened too.
