I'd like to use a RasPi 3 to stream from Roon to a pair of Meridian DSP speakers, and use a raspi 3 instead of MS200 (unless they really fall in price).

Would it be possible to build a cable that somehow converts digital audio from RasPi 3 into SpeakerLink? I think this would be popular among Reviver owners and Meridian newer DSP speaker owners.

Does the Reviver not already work in this capacity? It seems you could plug it into a digi HAT and convert the digital signal into SL.

I've always used my Revivers to receive as input SL and convert to digital Audio and Comms (for older Non-SL DSP speakers). Can that be reversed?

Perhaps I can buy a cheap RasPi attachment instead... and run coax digital audio to a non-SL DSP speaker pair? Any recommendations on RasPi accessories?

They should work both ways. I have some cables that do.

From memory because I havn't had chance to do this in a while, I use the Reviver in reverse to update the 8000SE firmware. SpeakerLink into the 8000, and the RS232 receiving the cable from PC.

MC200, 818v3, DSP8000 with SE upgrade, Swallow Acoustics ALS2 analogue speakers, vintage Technics SL10 turntable, and an old, modded Oppo 83 (rarely played).

Rene on the Roon forum has positively mentioned the "Digi+ Pro HAT" which has coax digital audio output. I will buy one or a couple and try to get network streaming working direct to a pair of older 5K DSP speakers, and update this thread.

As a reminder, the non-SL and SL DSP speakers of the 5.2K series have both inputs, so you wouldn't need an adapter, just a volume control and a coax cable for the digital audio input. Appreciate the responses.

(edited to put the correct product, which is the HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro HAT, it is available on amazon).

The HiFiBerry Digi+ has the co-axial SPDIF output, you can add on BNC easily also. Well worth considering a better than standard power supply (5V), ifi maybe or better. Output is remarkable.

iFi PSU is a very good investment for £49.

I am running a Pi3 with DietPi on it and an explorer 2 into a Bel Canto amp with very, very good results.

Total cost for that was around £180.

Sure a better DAC would improve things further, but fine for that system.

No Darling, I've had it months!
