O.K. after successfully replaced the drive on a G08.

I ´m starting to replace the drive on a G98.

It is open, and already there is the first problem everything is packed in there.

Hope I do not need to remove the upper board.

Is there someone who can give any advice?

Best regards
Andreas

Hello Andreas

I cant comment on the G98, but I have replaced the drive in my 598DH (with supervison by MI, thanks again). I believe it's my 598 internal view in Duncan's Meridian info.

Looking at the internal view for the G98, they look to be almost the same layout.

I did not have to remove the upper board, just loosen it a little, in order to give enough room to remove the black metal covering the drive.

I cant remember there being any thing dificult or fiddly once the drive was revealed.

best of luck

regards

Matthew

No, it's pretty straight forward. A 7mm nut driver will make life easier taking the sheet metal cover off the drive.

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi,

the metal cover is not a problem.
It is the drive itself, which is connected with a very short cable.
So I can not get it out.

Will think about a solution, when worse comes to worse I remove the board.

Well,

still waiting for the stuff coming out of HK.

My wife is very mad, because I´m blocking the breakfast table.

Hi,

so long only the fat lady is singing who brought me the post from HK.
Still have no time to start over, my job is killing me currently.

Open posts and I have to take a lot of the business from my boss, because he must do the same.

Best regards

Well,

a brand new DSL-720A has arrived from China.
Works perfectly. The G98 purrs like a kitten.

Much easier than to hassle with used stuff.

Best regards

By the way the firm is 1.7

Also here you do not need 1.8

Which a never found on the internet!

Andreas

would you mind telling us where you sourced a new drive from and what it cost, including shipping? I think one of mine might need replacing in the near future.

Many thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

I think new replacments for the DSL-720A are running dry.

My China supplier gave me a DSL-710A instead ... idiot.

Still waiting for two others from diffrent suppliers, will see!

As soon as I have one I send you a PM.

Andreas
