I'm thinking about upgrading from DSP3100s to DSP5200s, at least for the front left and right speakers. But because I live alone, I've always been more comfortable with monitors then heavy floor-standing units. Does anyone know if there's a company that makes speaker bases/isolation platforms with built-in casters, so that I can move the speakers around by myself?

Teflon based sorbothane sliders designed for moving heavy furniture around?

Not seen sorbothane mentioned for a while though.

& depending on which flavour of DSP5200 you were thinking of upgrading to, I would strongly recommend condsidering an SW1600 as a viable alternative, keeping your DSP3100s.

I demoed the 2 (pre SE) and preferred the DSP3100 with SW1600. I also demoed the DSP5200SE fairly recently and while the top end was a step up I found the bass much harder to control in the demo room.

My conclusion: the SE's might well offer a considerable step up in the right room but the already great sounding DSP3100's coupled with the awesome bass response and flexible integration of the SW1600 should not be ignored - especially considering the relatively minor outlay. And I believe the SW1600 comes with castors - to keep the thread on topic! Mine didn't but I didn't need them.

Regards,

Simon

Thanks for the info, Simon. My wallet thanks you too. Haven't seen many used SW1600s for sale. Any idea was a fair price would be if one turns up?
