When the time arrives, and I buy an MSxxx, rather than spend £134 on 2 x 1metre lengths of Meridian's own 'High Resolution' SpeakerLink cables (between MSxxx to router/AC12), what is the less expensive and cost-effective alternative?

Hi,
No reason not to but typically Meridian's SpeakerLink cable is used for the SpeakerLink audio connections not the data connections on the LAN.

As for alternatives to Meridian SpeakerLink cable, any good quality screened and shielded S/FTP Cat cable will work.

This SpeakerLink vs. Cat6 S/FTP is worth a read.

There's also RJ45 Cables (Ethernet and SpeakerLink Use Cases) if you fancy a longer read.

Let me do a quick check for some pre-terminated patch leads for you.

Apologies in resurrecting this thread...

I'm contemplating buying an AC200 and a single pair of M6's.

What 'flat' lower-cost alternative SpeakerLink (Cat 5/6/7) cables have other people bought?

Spinaltap,

Do you already have the AC12 already because if not, I would recommend buying a Reviver instead ? Cheaper and more "elegant" solution although if you get the AC200 and the M6's, neither will be required.

Cheers,
Steve M

I do have a brand-new/boxed/never used AC12; but I don’t know why you would mention the AC12 when I’m contemplating the purchase of M6’s with an AC200.

I tried Meridian Speakerlink cables and never heard much if any improvement/difference, certainly nothing to justify the cost! I would suggest you try one of these cables on Amazon.

When I used 5200SL in my kitchen I used very similar flat cable (as posted above by Ratbert). Easy to hide along and under skirting boards. No issues with SQ as I would expect. Available in many lengths to suit.

Nick

Spinaltap, hence the inclusion of my second sentence ! The first comment was mainly for the benefit of anyone contemplating using an AC12.

I use these and they seem to work just fine.
