I have had to use both the outputs from my Oppo 103; one to my 4k PJ and one to the HD621. This is because the HD621 only passes artifacts in 4k.

Passing 4K from the Oppo to the HD621 produces the following artifacts.

With my 4K server I have to run a HDMI straight to the 4K PJ and another HDMI for audio only goes to the HD621.

You can see the artifacts on this screen when the 4K server is connected directly to the HD621(using the same HDMI cable etc).

I wonder what is going on here then as I've had both an Oppo 103 and a Himedia Q10 put 4k through my HD621 without any problems... What resolution are you attempting? I passed up to 2160p30 as that's the most my projector supports...

Ah hold on, you're using a HDCP 2.2 source (what is it?) The source would probably refuse to handshake with the HD621. I'm using non-2.2 sources.

Yes the 4K server needs to handshake to a HDCP 2.2 so it won't work through the HD621 but that's ok to me as I have a 10m HDMI cable running from the 4K server video/Audio HMDI output straight to the SONY PJ 2.2 Input.
The Audio only HDMI output from the 4K server goes into the 621so it's all good.

The PJ upscales any content to 4K automatically so I just have the Oppo set to 'auto' resolution as I just use the Oppo for 1080P content anyway.

It would be great if the HD621 did handle 4K as then I wouldn't have to change the input on the PJ when I want to watch from the 4K server.

Would it be feasible for M to incorporate the new 'HD621' into the 861v9?

Here are 2 links.

2K video via HD621

4K video via HD621

The relative Youtube videos contain some explanations. Please note that AFAIK only one of the Oppo's HDMIs can output 4K. If we make the mistake of connecting the HD621 to the 2K output of the Oppo, regardless of the Oppo's setting we will actually see only 2K video. It is best to look at the PJ's Info menu to confirm the resolution of the video it is showing.

In summary, HD621 cannot handle 4K. Look at the pale colours, the artificats within the images etc. on my video. This is only what I captured on my phone; on the big screen it is worse.

Shankar

Note: 4k = 3840 x 2160

Ok let's call it UHD. And, sorry, but the HD621 does pass UHD just fine for me. As above, tested with Oppo 103 upscaling and via Himedia Q10 with genuine UHD material,
including Joe Kane's UHD test patterns.

As for those looking for a 2.2 solution into the HD621, lookup KD-HDFIX22. It should provide the solution were looking for, and indeed those with a 2.2 source could verify that it does...

If UHD is a problem via your HD621 there must be something "wrong" in the chain...

Anyway I tried with my other HDMI 18gbs cables which work a treat from the 4K server straight to the PJ and I still get artifacts through the HD621 so I can confirm that at least my HD621 will not pass 4K (UHD) without artifacts. This is via the Oppo upscaling the blu rays to 4K and sending it through the HD621 as since the HD621 cannot process HDCP 2.2 I cannot use the 4K server through it without using that other solution you provided.

I thought I was running the latest firmware in the HD621 as I did purchase it from Rick in the UK last year.

Just been playing the Amazon Fire UltraHD through the HD621 using a Key Digital KD-HDFIX22 to present a 2.2 client to the Amazon Fire. UHD video comes through as 2160p24 and looks lovely on the big screen smile

Cannot wait to see how good high bitrate UHD is going to look...
