It's not a good week for terminal kitchen appliance breakdowns in the Guest household (!)

First, the dishwasher, then the pump in my Bosch coffee machine! It's only 18 months old, and Bosch don't offer a repair service. It's scrap.

Fortunately, it looks as though John Lewis will refund my outlay as its within their 2 year guarantee period (they can't provide a direct replacement).

So, what to choose - and, more importantly, a bean-to-cup machine that can actually be repaired should the worst happen in future.

Does anyone have experience of owning a particular brand of bean-to-cup coffee machine that developed a serious fault and was then successfully repaired by the manufacturer?

We had a Jura (S9 I think) - which was (expensively) repaired many times (which ultimately was the issue for such an expensive machine).

Currently on a De'Longhi Prima Donna S - only 1 repair so far and brew unit is user replaceable so I'm hopeful it'll last or be easy to change. Of course we bought it 1/2 price on Black Friday in John Lewis a couple of years ago so my value judgement is coloured by that.

We've got a built in Siemens coffee machine. I managed to break it and then not report it for about 9 months! Was fixed within a week for £90 - much to the family's disgust (with my inaction!) It's been pretty reliable and the fault was self inflicted, but there is a fair amount of owner servicing required. I think it is a badged Bosch.

Cheers
Tom

I just have a couple of jars lol, one caffeine and one De Caff. Works for me and I love popping the seal on a new one.

Here's another thumbs up for the De'Longhi Prima Donna, owned this for over 2 years with no issues, a great machine

As already pointed out you can get all the parts for this machine should the unfortunate happen

Unrepairable after 18-23 months sounds perfect. Money back --> new machine. Cost free coffee drinking!

I use an aeropress which is more manual than you want but only costs £25 and makes the best coffee i've ever had at home.

Lots of offers on the Gaggia UK website.

Repair service offered.

Next door neighbour has one and offers very fine coffee.

I still use the convenience and available variety of pods.
