Fwiw...I only discovered this the other week. You don't have to be on the import tab either. Just drag a folder on to CPC anywhere.

I also found that if I tidied up tags and names etc in mp3tag then I could drag files directly from mp3tag into CPC...that really did save me a lot of time when I was "fixing" my various artist imports.

All in all quite an efficient way to get good data into the library.

Thanks for the additional tips Nick. This should be in the Sooloos wiki

EDIT. Ok I just added wiki entries on this in the workflow and metadata sections of the Sooloos wiki. Hope those are the appropriate places.

Wasn't Ronnie referring to the fan noise of the MD600 rather than the disk noise?
In any case, isn't it the cumulative effect of both? More importantly though it seems eminently sensible to me that if it is possible then it is a great idea to remove spurious noise from the listening environment.

What I was trying to say was that in my opinion, with 'green' drives, the background noise generated from the MD600 is pretty low and should not be an impediment to anyone who (for whatever reason) wishes to co-locate the unit. More than 5 feet from the unit, I have to really strain to hear any noise at all.
