Literally down to the last day for decisions. Has anyone any experience in the upgraded sound system in the Evoque over the regular Meridian setup. Is the normal one still pretty good?

Basically, SWMBO wants panoramic roof so its an either or.

Any thoughts?

Tough choice...

Judging from a static demo at Meridian Oxford the 825W audio is very good. The DSP processing (especially Trifield) does seem to work. I think this is only available with the enhanced audio option. Not sure how it compares when moving.

The panoramic roof also looked good and added to an airy interior.

I'd want both...

Sorry I can't be more helpful... maybe you need to push for more discount to get one included 'free'.

With the wait times we were quoted on ordering, I don't think they are going to be in any rush to give stuff away.
I agree, the panoramic roof is cool so I am kind of hoping people are going to tell me the standard hifi is good enough as it is.

I did manage to get a free dog grate for the back though, and I had to pretty much beg for that.

From the specs the upgraded one seems to be where Meridian does it the Meridian way. On the standard one I'm not so sure they can deliver something extra.

The panoramic roof is cool no question about that.

Which ever option you don't take, you'll regret it in a few months; get both!

All the best,

Steve.

I've already started the pleading, that it will keep the residual value higher, early birthday present blah blah....

Or just do it anyway and slip them the extra cash without her knowing, sure she won't notice the difference or read any of the paperwork.

I don't like lying but it is for a good cause, maybe a quick call to inter flora might help!

I sincerely doubt that the residual value will be more with either the roof or the stereo. Cars don't seem to work that way.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

It's just talk, the one thing it gets down to is what is on the order... wink

I'm probably going to get unpopular by saying this but...

The "high end" Linn system I have in my Aston was a total waste of money. A car interior is a pretty useless environment for listening and destroys any pretension to hifi listening. You can set up a lower cost system to sound pretty reasonable in most cars and this is really all you need in this environment. It is often said that room treatment is the best money you can spend on audio quality. Just think about this related to a car interior.

Manufacturers of big brand hifi want to be associated with trendy vehicle brands which is to do with marketing and not audio quality.

It's a car. Get the sunroof.

This was more as a blah to the mrs than an actual assumption.

Hi MalcolmW,

I figured you might own an Aston from the image you have in your profile, looks very nice, and from when I drove one the noise it makes is music enough!

Russ

And no I do not own a Rat!! wink
