My experience is being that if it wasn't for an extremely kind and helpful dealer thousands of miles away, I would still be waiting for my "local" dealer to return my repeated phone calls.

Can't wait for the next update!

I've had my 861v6 updated today - using the flash installer & a serial null modem cable. All went swimmingly....
Anyone know which type of cable should be used to update speakerlink DSP8000.2's / DSP7200HC : a serial to RJ45 ?

Google Search the forum for "RS232 SpeakerLink" and it will reveal the answer.

I have successfully updated the firmware in my 861v4 and all my speakers thanks to my dealer, however since the update in the v4 the volume at startup defaults at 65 instead of the previously used volume like it did before. Anyone know a quick way of changing this back ? (Ideally from the remote)

It is setup in Mconfig, if you reload your saved .msl file into the 861 all will be well.

If you don't have a copy saved you will have to re-configure from scratch and reload.

Regards,
Carl

PS I don't like last used volume as it can lead to a shock if it was playing loud when it was put in to standby. Thus I set mine to default to 55.

It's in the .msl file. Open it, go to products and double click on processor (861 in my case). The start volume is under setup.

I had the same problem you've described. Tried to make this change yesterday. After changing and saving the .msl, I tried to store to 861 but it just shut the pc down. Three times.

Just tried again and it stored perfectly.
So have to say nice avatar laugh and good luck, hope you can store it without any hassle. from JimK

Oh thanks, didn't know you could double click on one item in that page ! Now volume set-up much lower and just noticed my rear speakers aren't working anymore after the upgrade, will have to redo the firmware update and try again... But enough for tonight

Try retyping and re-configuring your rear speakers. Mine didn't want to play after the upgrade until I did that.
