As someone who hasn't jumped in either ship yet, I wonder how many wives and other family members of HH members happily use SB as opposed to Sooloos. Straw pole?

In my case it will be an absolutely no go unless SWMBO likes it.

Hi Carl
When did you arrive at that conclusion?? In both your "Mini Reviews", I believe you said that the Control 15 via Speakerlink and Coax was equivalent to that produced via Upsampling in the 800D???

Has your opinion evolved??

Mrs Hecd2 very happy to use SB Touch via web interface to search and play ripped music, and to search and play Spotify stuff.

The remote or touch interface are clunkier than the web interface I think. I sometimes struggle with the former and much prefer the latter.

Personally, I find the SB User Interface to be fine, especially when using iPeng on and iTouch or iPod

However, Sonos generally tends to get the "Vote" from the non-Techie members of families where I've recommended the Sonos system be used.

I've seen Five Year old's being able to select individual Songs or Radio Stations without missing a beat........

Following the hint that "a picture paints a thousand words", have a look at the two Videos below. Both show how easy it is to Search & Select Music

Sonos User Interface and Seach using iPad

Sonos User Interface and Search using Sonos Controller and iTouch

I believe that the iPeng UI is very similar for the SB Product Range. Others here can comment better on that

My Mrs generally knows what she wants to play. I don't think she has any issue finding it via the remote or the Touch panel.

Artist/album/play.....that's it.

I do get occasional calls when I am travelling about what buttons to press on the MSR to turn the screen on, how to work the video smile etc...so, using that as a measure I'd say music selection is easy.

If we talk about browsing with nothing in mind then I expect Sooloos screen size and speed to be easier.

One thing I will say is that, although I'm an iPeng fanboy, the iPad version still has some way to go. IMO. The Missus has no problem using it though, and she is pretty technophobic.

Hey Guys,
I'm seeing it from a very pragmatic side:
My family loves the Sooloos.
The squeezebox, I tried also, get it as a loaner, didn't does the trick.
My ladies (beloved wife and daughter) don't work with it.
My daughter is qiute fit on her macbook, but Sooloos tops it by far.
Now, they are using my stereo, before Sooloos the having everywhere the radio on.
We are thinking too much in SQ instead of having fun. Fun for me is, when my family is happy with that i bought. If I do so allways, i can spend the money like i want. :-)

Best
Armin

Hi Armin,

I suspect that you speak for the majority of Sooloos owners and I suspect that I am in the minority when I went the Sooloos route with the primary reason being SQ. My rationale for that is Meridian's quote:
"The Control 15 features a brand-new audio output design which includes the very best of Meridianís experience with digital sound. Digital signal processing provides the full range of digital audio features for which Meridian is renowned, such as upsampling for enhanced audio performance, and an ultra-low-jitter clocking system for superior stereo imaging and digital audio performance."
I set my Sonos at shuffle all and let it rip and my wife simply hits the next if Jimi Hendrix comes on, and we plan to do the same with the Sooloos.

So would it be fair to say that the value of Sooloos is that you don't have to pick one reason or the other or compromise, but you can have your cake and eat it too.

Unless you want your cake iced with BBC iPlayer, Spotify and four zones.

For those who like a different sort of cake from that, what you say is true...
